All submissions are single-blind peer reviewed.

If accepted, authors are either invited to give an oral or a poster presentation at the conference (decision by the program committee).

Full paper – presenting significant scientific results, is a submission to Advances of the ICA. A few high-quality selected papers will be accepted for the International Journal of Cartography.
The review results are communicated to the authors, who must prepare the final manuscript according to the reviewers’ comments. Good quality papers rejected for publication in Advances of the ICA are considered for inclusion in Proceedings of the ICA.

Abstract – usually presenting ongoing work, abstracts should include succinct and sufficient information about research objectives, significance, methods, and preliminary or expected findings. After the review, authors of accepted abstracts can choose for the final publication the Abstracts of the ICA or the Proceedings of the ICA after having extended the manuscript to full paper (8 pages length), using the proper template.

To sum up, all the accepted manuscripts of ICC 2021 will be published on either of the ICA’s three official online publication series:

1. Advances in Cartography and GIScience of the International Cartographic Association (short: Advances of the ICA, eISSN 2570-2084), single-blind peer review based on submitted full papers;
2. Proceedings of the International Cartographic Association (short: Proceedings of the ICA, eISSN 2570-2092), single-blind peer review based on submitted abstracts, developed to a full paper;
3. Abstracts of the International Cartographic Association (short: Abstracts of the ICA, eISSN 2570-2106), single-blind peer review based on submitted abstracts; publication of abstract only.

All full papers and abstracts submissions must be in English; no other language will be accepted.

All presentations oral and poster must be in English, no other language will be accepted.

Full instructions for submitting both full papers and abstracts will be given together with the notifications of acceptance.
